In Honor and Memory of Roy Ansell

Member picture  Roy Crawford Ansell was a loving husband to wife, Joyce of 63 years as well as a devoted father to their children Lindsay, Adrian and Michelle.

Roy moved to Fallbrook in 1986 following his retirement from Alcan after 36 years of service. He became active in the Fallbrook Music Society and later becoming President of the Board of Directors from 1993-1995. He created the Music Society Foundation and served as its chairman and was governance chair for 20 years.

Roy was a Rotarian for many years but was never able to be active due to his continuous traveling. After moving to Fallbrook, Roy dedicated himself to Rotary and became President of the Rotary Club of Fallbrook in 2002. He later created the Rotary Club of Fallbrook Foundation and served as the Foundation Chairman. Roy was a governance expert and guided Rotary through many challenges.

Roy was a charter Board member of the Legacy Endowment Community Foundation since 1997. He served as President of the Board of Directors from 1998-1999. Roy’s trademark of excellence was the ability to bring his strong governance principles to every organization he was involved with. Roy was an inspiring, motivating and industrious pioneer in the Village of Fallbrook and will be greatly missed.

To honor this remarkable individual, Legacy Endowment Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Fallbrook have created the Roy Ansell Excellence Award. A local nonprofit will be selected each year for their excellence and will receive a $500 honorarium funded by the Roy Ansell Endowment Fund, which Roy and Joyce created in 2011 to support worthy charities in perpetuity.
